The Journey of a Writer - Internet Links

Writing for Women
  • Romance Writers of America
The professional writing organization for those serious about writing fiction for women with an emphasis on writing stories that focus on, or contain, a romantic theme.
  • Washington Romance Writers
My local RWA writing chapter. In addition to monthly workshops that deal with how to write, how to publish, and everything in between, our yearly retreat is guaranteed to inspire you to write, and provide you with professional contacts to whom you may submit your work. Last, but definitely not least, we are a seriously cool group of friendly and talented writers.
  • Writer's Market
The industry classic for finding markets to sell what you write.
  • Blog Daily Guide to Literary Agents
Check out this often-updated blog as you prepare to submit your work to an agent.

Writing for Children
  • SCBWI - Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators
Despite its name being a mouthful, this is the professional organization to join if you aspire to write, or illustrate, for children. In addition to market news and local workshops/conferences, SCBWI offers a variety of services and two annual conferences (one in LA, one in NYC).
  • SCBWI Mid-Atlantic
My local SCBWI chapter. I hooked up with my critique group here.
  • Children's Book Biz News
Usually updated Monday through Friday, Anastasia Suen's blog provides an incredible resource for agents, editors and publishers as well as how to submit to them. When you are ready to submit your work become a regular reader.
  • Blog Daily Guide to Literary Agents
Updated often, this blog can help you narrow down your search for the perfect agent.
